In case you are your and not familiar with the mobile industry of several years ago, Nokia was one of the most important players on the market. Back in the day, the Finish manufacturer was the number one cellphone company, selling millions of devices all over the world. However, when the smartphone era began, Nokia made some mistakes and did not adapt. If you don’t remember, Nokia was using its own operating system called Symbian OS on all its devices and it insisted a very long time with it even though the sales were far from being great.
After than, the firm switched to MeeGo OS, which was also made in house. Unfortunately for them, the OS was just as unpopular as their previous one. Anyway, the manufacturer was not doing so well, but they made another mistake, probably the biggest one, when they partnered up with Microsoft. To be more specific, Nokia was supposed to produce smartphones running Windows phone exclusively. Moreover, the company owned by Bill Gates bought Nokia’s devices and Services later on, which meant that Nokia was not the same anymore.
To finish the story, a while ago Foxconn purchased Nokia from Microsoft, and it looks like we are going to see Nokia handsets on the market once again, and this time they will be running Android. The manufacturing process will be taken care of by Foxconn, but the smartphones will be sold under the Nokia brand. With this in mind, the Nokia D1C was spotted in the Geekbench database yesterday, and today we have some details concerning the manufacturer’s new Nokia P1. If we are to believe a report that cites a Chinese source familiar with the matter, the upcoming phone will run Android OS, and will be IP68 certified, which means that it will be dust and water resistant. In addition, it seems that the Nokia P1 will have two models depending on the size of the screen.
Both of them will have a resolution of 2560 x 1440, but one will measure 5.2 inches, while the other will have a diagonal of 5.5 inches. Another thing that is worth mentioning is that phone will sport an AMOLED display. Apart from the panel, it is also said that the smartphone will be made out of metal, and the OS iteration will be Android 7.0 Nougat, which will have the company’s Z Launcher on top. Furthermore, the source also suggests that the Nokia P1 will come with a powerful primary camera, although it doesn’t mention any details. We don’t know when will the device be released, but it is expected to see the light of day by the end of the year.
As far as the rest of the specs go, we don’t have any information yet, but it seems that the phone will be actually a flagship, so we expect a powerful processor under its hood such as the Snapdragon 821, and at least 4 GB of RAM.
